Last week we chatted about cloth diapering with prefolds, so it only makes sense to tell you about some great covers to go over those prefolds this week! There are a lot of choices when it comes to covers, but if price is a factor, but you still want really reliable covers, Bummis may be just the choice for you.
First of all, I want to tell you that you have options when you choose to diaper with Bummis. Seven options, in fact, and that's not including their cute little swim diapers. So, let's talk about a few of these babies in order of affordability.
Bummi's Original Diaper Covers are well loved by a lot of parents. They are super trim, gentle, and available in four sizes to make sure that your baby gets the coverage they need without all the bulk of a one-sized cover. This cover is made of Nylon, and has Lycra bindings around the legs. The nylon is soft and thin, but it's still nice and water-proof. It's not quite as breathable as PUL, but Bummis has made that less of an issue by adding a lining of mesh inside to help keep air flowing. This particular cover is available only in white and with aplix. Coming in at just $9 a cover, these really are a steal.
Just a bit more expensive (but with a much higher cute factor) are Bummis Super Lite Wraps. These are super cute, and come in five bright colors. Super Lite wraps also feature an aplix closure, four sizes to ensure a great fit, and really soft breathable fabric. One feature that I believe makes this cover stand above many other covers is that there is no binding! The leg elastic is encased in their soft PUL, so you won't have an issue with wicking or leaking around your baby's legs (one of my biggest cloth diaper pet-peeves!) so you can feel confident that your baby will stay dry. These covers are trim, but they are generously wide, so you should have no problem covering even a super fluffy fitted. Coming in at just $11 a cover, you just can't go wrong with Super Lite Wraps.
If prints are a must for you, Bummis Super Whisper Wraps or Super Brite Covers might just tickle your fancy. Both of these covers feature bright and cheery prints, four sizes, and quality aplix. The main difference between these two covers is that the Super Brite covers have a gusseted leg, which is perfect for those little skinny-legged babes in your life. Both of these covers also feature cross-over aplix tabs so that you can get a really customized fit for every baby. Coming in at $12.50 a piece, both the Super Whisper Wraps and the Super Brite Covers are fun, affordable options for covering those prefolds and fitteds.
The last Bummis cover I want to highlight for you is a bit different. Polar Bummi Diaper Covers are actually made of two layers of high-density micro-fleece with a layer of laminate in between. These covers are soft, breathable, and have leg gussets. It's trim enough to fit under your child's clothes without adding tons of bulk, and they are cream colored, so it's nice and neutral. Coming in at $17 a cover, these are the highest end of the Bummis covers, but still not a bad deal!
A couple of things that I want to tell you about Bummis, because they are awesome - all of their products are made in Canada, and the materials are sourced in North America. You don't have to worry about lax standards in safety and materials when you purchase Bummis products. So go order a couple, and cover your baby in comfort and style!
